The UK and Norwegian continental shelves form a complex and changing marine environment. Useful information is spread across many providers, portals, and formats. Offshore Data Atlas brings key open datasets, spatial search tools, and selected live offshore context into one place.
What the atlas covers
The atlas combines more than 90 reference layers—including bathymetry, offshore energy leases, petroleum licences, wells, pipelines, subsea infrastructure, cables, geology, wrecks, munitions, surveys, protected areas, habitats, and vessel density—with live buoy, helicopter, and Norwegian vessel context and specialist spatial tools.
Search and context
Search and zoom to named features, inspect attributes, and understand how datasets overlap spatially.
Area exploration
Draw or upload an area of interest, find relevant datasets by theme and provider, and export matching data.
Live offshore context
Follow offshore crew-change helicopters from community ADS-B and Norwegian vessel traffic from Kystverket via BarentsWatch.
Specialist tools
Retrieve modelled metocean time series, explore selected wreck bathymetry in 3D, and review offshore wind generation.
Data currency
Reference layers are designed for periodic refreshes, with weekly checks and source update metadata where available.
Public API

Who made the atlas
Offshore Data Atlas was created and is independently maintained by pyramid146. It is an independent project built to make UK and Norwegian offshore data easier to discover, compare, and understand together.
Anonymous usage analytics
The atlas records aggregate counts of selected interactions—such as opening a tool, changing a map layer, running a search, inspecting a feature, completing a download, or encountering a tool error—to understand which capabilities are useful and where improvements are needed. These product events do not include persistent visitor identifiers, map coordinates, search text, uploaded areas, vessel or aircraft identifiers, account details, or advertising profiles.
Important limitations
The atlas provides marine spatial context and general awareness. It is not a navigational or operational-safety product, statutory register, legal advice, or a replacement for checking official provider services. Live coverage can be incomplete or intermittent.
